New Header

Hello everyone! Looking at my blog, I thought it was time for a new bloglook! Not much has changed, but the header is at least a lot different.

What do you think? I don't really like how the letters turned out, but that was the only way I could put them on the pictures. But as for the rest, I like it very much. I've always loved the picture of the lady jumping over the puddle, aided by a gentleman. And I really like old camera's. As for the middle two, the landscape is one of the most beautiful and spectacular landscapes I have ever seen (on photo's :D) and I love libraries, so that's reason enough. Also I like the colour blue in both the pictures, and the black and white (Black and white pictures are so pretty, it makes a picture have a certain brightness, simplicity, yet elegance. It makes it more real and more beautiful.)
Just the letters ... But I am a little too lazy to go do that all over again (I am very bad at making headers. The letters always haunt me. They never seem to get right. :D)

So, what do you all think?

Things I have been doing

''Once I read a story about a butterfly in the subway, and today, I saw one! It got on at 42nd and off at 59th, where, I assume, it was going to Bloomingdales to buy a hat that will turn out to be a mistake, as almost all hats are.'' - Kathleen Kelly, You've Got Mail.

This week I have been doing a lot of things! All simple little things, but I guess that's what life is.

I would probably spill the coffee... :)
Reading a lot this week! I have to read a lot of Dutch books for my exams, and it's not really going that smoothly, because it's quite hard to find a good book that is also on the literature list. Sadly enough I cannot just choose one I like.
And also poems. I have to read poems. Now I am not really that much of a poetic person, I once wrote a piece about rain that rhymed, it was long, and there was hot chocolate in the end, but that's all I ever did concerning poems.
Not that I am complaining! No, I like it. It's good doing things I never did before, and fun. There's a lot of enjoyable information out there in the Land of Literature.

Watching Gilmore Girls. All the time. I had to stick with this picture because I kept seeing facts about the show that I didn't want to know yet. I really like the wondering what's going to happen next, and the surprise when something new happens, so I quickly choose the first picture I saw of Rory and Lorelai together.
I really love Gilmore Girls, it's fun, it's witty, it's great.
Let me introduce to you the characters if you haven't watched it yet. :D
Lorelai is the one in the black dress, Rory the one in the blue sweater (give me her sweater, please) and grey skirt (also give me the grey skirt), the one in the lavender-ish blouse is Lorelai's mom, and the one with the red bowtie is Lorelai's dad.

Recieving a letter from a friend. I love letters. Opening the envelope with the beautiful/exotic/weird/ugly stamp on it, and then unfolding the paper and finding the beginning, because sometimes the are folded upside down, and then reading and also feeling the letters, and there is the cracking of paper when you turn...
Letters are fun. Three cheers for snail mail!

Traveling by train. The last time doing that, I was a little girl. The only thing I remember is the view: green, flat meadows and cows. Long time ago, indeed. :)
This time I remember everything. My sister and I went to visit my grandparents, and we went by train. I was the one not knowing anything about trains, my sister had quite some experience, so she lead the way and showed me how you do things when you travel by train.
It was an amazing one-hour ride. The view was wintery, cold mist covered the horizon in a white blanket. The more we traveled east, the more patches of left-over snow we saw, and frozen dykes, and people skating which made me jealous because of the fact there was hardly any ice around our home. Twice we could spot deer behind the trees.
The seats where very comfortable, I guessed one could even sleep in a seat like that. My sister and I chatted our way through the one hour and time flew by.
On the way back the mist had cleared and there where more people, and I was kind of tired, but it was still a lot of fun.
That was one great day of new experience!

Apart from the occasional visits to the library and all the other daily things, this week was quite busy, and exciting!
Now it's Friday and I am impatiently awaiting tonight, when weekend officially begins. It's only until I am terribly busy (studying and studying because I want to know everything by the time I have to do exams this year) I get to really appreciate the weekends. So therefore ... ''Oh, glorious weekend, here I come!'' (this is not a quote. I hope.)

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Where I talk about 2017 and 2016 (although I am a day too late, but hey ...)

Hello everyone! Sorry I have been absent for so long. But I wish you all a happy new year!

The things I never did before and did this year for the first time:

 - I turned eighteen! Yay, officially old enough to do ''adult-stuff''. : P And do lots of silly things with it anyway. But it feels great being eighteen.

- I stayed up till twelve midnight on New Years Eve. We never did that before, but we where watching Gilmore Girls (I love it!) and we decided that there should be a first time for everything, so we stayed up till twelve, which gave me a headache, but was still pretty great. I liked the colours of the fireworks, but the sound! And the smoke! No thank you, I would prefer fireworks did not exist. (I am a little like the cats and dogs who hate New Years Eve because of the fireworks).
But it was nice anyway. : )

- I had a layered haircut that turned out great! It is now officially very short, my hair, but it feels light and airy.

- I bought my very first cell phone, a simple one, and it's white! I really like white and simple.

- learned how to travel by bus. I never knew that before.

- Did the mbti- test and found out I am an INFP. Some people say it's putting people in a box, but I am more of the opinion it is more something that helps you understand yourself, and others, better. It is something basic, actually, because we are all so different and unique, but it is like something you have in common with someone else who's, for instance, an INFP, too. I don't know how to explain this, but maybe it is, for some, like me, somehting to figure yourself out and to understand more about others, and yourself too.
I hope that makes sense. : D

Well, that was all I did new this year. Of course I read a lot, I bought my own copy of The Book Thief, and I had my good times, and my not so good times (especially when watching the news) but I also grew a lot, I think.
I did things, I learned things, and tried to be more open and not so reserved all the time. I don't know if I am any better at talking with people that I don't know that well, but I hope that will get better. :P
I tried not to use a lot of emoticons in my writing (blogposts, e-mails etc.), but I failed. But maybe that's okay. *trying hard not to add yet another winking emoticon*

Things I will do in 2017 (or at least try to do):

 - Blog more regurarly.

- Write more. I intend to try all kinds of writing this year, from poetry to short stories (the real short ones) to essays and all that. I don't really have a novel or story idea going on now, I am still finding ideas, so practicing other kinds of writing is a good idea, right?

- Read a lot of new books. Like the new book from Lynn Austin, I can't wait to read it!

- Pass my exams. It's getting closer and I am kind of scared ... But I know I'll do okay. : )

- Do more things. Not necessarily big things, but just things.

- Exercise more regurarly. The only exercise I get is taking my bike to the library once or twice a week. That's not much ... : P

- Try new things. New everything.

So that was my list of things I want to do this year. It is kind of short, but I'll probably make a longer list when it's March or something. Or when Summer comes around.

I know also this year hasn't been all nice. There have been the terrorist attacks, and that really makes me sad, and also angry. But even when bad things happen, there are also good things, like the things I have listed before. Great things even.

I wish you all, again, a good new year, eventhough the wish is a little late. : )
